What’s New for This Year?
This year I’m taking a new approach to sharing my books with the world. After speaking with another local author, I realised that relying solely on social media and Amazon/Kindle simply isn’t enough, especially when you’re self‑published and working with a small budget. So I’m shifting my focus toward meeting readers face‑to‑face and building a stronger local presence.
One of the biggest changes is that I’ll be taking my books on the road. I’m planning to attend book fairs, visit libraries, and explore opportunities to speak in community spaces. I’ve even been invited to talk at a local school something I never expected, but it may be a wonderful chance to inspire young readers to be creative with their writing.
To support all this, I’ve started putting together a proper promotional setup: ballpoint pens and bookmarks with my website printed on them, a QR code that links directly to the site, and a new roll‑up banner to help people spot me across a busy hall. After nearly 30 years as a historical reenactor, talking to curious people about the past, this kind of engagement shouldn’t feel too different after all it’s just a new costume and a new story to tell.
I was a little too late to register for the March Book Fair here in Market Harborough, but I’ll still be attending to see how other authors present their stalls and to speak with the organisers. It will be a great learning experience before I start booking future events.
I’ll also be adding an Events page here on the website, where you can follow my progress, see where I’ll be next, and — if I’m ever near you — pop along and say hello.
