Andy M Chapman Biography

Born in Northampton Andrew M. Chapman grew up in a lively household with two younger brothers, steeped in local traditions and community life. His early passion for boxing and sports reflected a spirited and active youth.
Trained as a chef, Andy’s professional career began in the heat of the kitchen, rising to the role of head chef before a life-altering spinal injury in 1993 redirected his path. With resilience and determination, he retrained in IT and moved into the financial sector, excelling in roles involving fraud analysis and insurance services.
Andy married Debra, his lifelong partner, and together they raised two children in Northamptonshire. He later moved to Market Harborough and has been there for 19 years. A dedicated historical reenactor for nearly three decades, Andy’s love for history was sparked in childhood and brought to life in portrayals ranging from WWII soldiers to U.S. cavalrymen of the 1870s. In 2019, he joined the Whiteoak Springs reenactment group, contributing not only as a performer but also as a storyteller—writing the Whiteoak Springs Town Gazette and later compiling those tales into his debut book Whiteoak Springs Presents: Truth, Lies and Consequences (2024).
Inspired by his grandchildren, Andy began writing historically themed short stories featuring them as time-traveling protagonists, weaving together family, history, and imagination into memorable adventures.
A proud grandfather, published author, and steward of the past, Andy continues to share stories that celebrate resilience, heritage, and the enduring magic of a child’s imagination.
